We always strive to create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors, however we also understand that visiting a new church can leave people feeling a bit apprehensive. We hope that the information on this page can ease uncertainties and make your first time and Friedberg more meaningful and stress-free.
Friedberg Moravian Church is located at 2178 Friedberg Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. We are about halfway between the center of Winston-Salem and Lexington, on the southern Forsyth County/northern Davidson County border. We have plenty of parking available in one of two parking lots which are situated on the west side of the sanctuary and on the east side of the fellowship hall, in front of the Family Life Center wing. There are also handicapped spaces available directly in front of the sanctuary and fellowship hall.
We hold two in-person services every Sunday morning. Our early service is held at 8:30 am and is more casual in nature. Many people attending this service like it because it is a bit more laid-back than our 11:00 service. It’s especially good for restless children and adults alike. The 11:00 service is held in the sanctuary and is the standard traditional service with pew seating, choir, and organ accompaniment. Between these two services we have our Sunday school classes at 9:45 am, preceeded by music from our Moravian brass and wind band at 9:00 am. Sunday school at Friedberg is similar to small group ministry at other churches, with each class participating in Bible study, discussion, fellowship, and collective spiritual growth. You can find more information about Sunday school here.
Friedberg offers Sunday school, nursery, and Children’s church for ages 0-5 and school grades K-5. Sunday school is held at 9:45 am and is divided into preschool and school-grade classes.
Nursery is provided during the 11:00 am worship service and is divided between infants and toddlers. Ushers are available to assist visitors in locating the nursery.
Children’s church is held for pre-K through fifth grade during the 11:00 am worship service. Children wishing to attend Children’s church are invited to first attend the opening of the 11:00 worship service, during which all children will be dismissed to the Children’s Center for Children’s church. This usually happens right after the Children’s sermon portion of the worship service and will be announced by the pastor or worship leader. Parents will need to pick up their children from the Children’s Center right after the 11:00 am worship service ends. The Children’s Center is located on the lower floor of the Family Life Center. Signs are posted throughout the building to assist visitor’s in locating Children’s church.
Worship at Friedberg is of a primarily traditional style. We sing hymns from our hymnal, Moravian Book of Worship, along with other traditional hymns of the Christian church. Our choir usually sings more contemporary choral music, and we will occasionally sing contemporary songs as a congregation if they fit the theme of the sermon.
Friedberg does not have a particular dress code, however you are likely to see most of the congregation dress in “business casual” as well as suits and ties in the 11:00 am service. Our 8:30 am service is more laid-back and those attending that service tend to dress more casually. Ultimately, we emphasize “come as you are” over adhering to any particular dress code.
As our guest, we do not want you to feel obligated to give anything to our offering. We do not pass offering plates during the service, however there are plates outside the sanctuary and Family Life Center for people to give if they feel lead.
