CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Location: Various classrooms located on the lower level.
Our youngest children (ages 2-3) follow a different curriculum and learn about the “Little Bible Heroes” each week! This Fall they will be learning about the Creation, Noah, Joseph, Miriam, Moses, Joshua, Samuel and Christmas.
The Children’s Sunday School (ages 4-5th grade) curriculum follows a theme and verse each month. The children have a variety of activities to help learn more about the theme. This Fall we will be looking at the following verses and topics:
September-Creation-”In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
October-Sin-”If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” James 4:17
November-Thanksgiving-”Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
December-Advent and Christmas-”When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.” Matthew 2:10
There are numerous activities offered at Friedberg for children-some taking place during the Sunday School and worship hours and others happening at other various times. These are led by our Children’s Ministry Director, Heidi Everhart along with a great team of leaders who serve with her. We would love for you to join us!
YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Middle School and High School-High School will meet in the Youth Room which is below the Sanctuary. Middle School will meet in Room 110 on the Lower Level.
In September and October, we are studying the Book of Ruth.
In November and December, we are studying the Life of Paul.
The Book of Ruth was written to the Israelites. It teaches that genuine love at times may require uncompromising sacrifice. Regardless of our situation, we can live according to the precepts of God.
The Life of Paul was one of the most influential leaders of the early Christian church. He played a crucial role in spreading the gospel to the Gentiles during the first century, and his missionary journeys took him throughout the Roman empire.
The middle school and high school Sunday School classes are part of the Friedberg Youth Ministry. Various events take place throughout the year, and everyone is invited to participate in the ministry, which is led by our Youth Director, Karen Hill.

The Revival Class is for college youth and young adults with ages ranging from 18 – 30. We have about 10-15 attendees every Sunday, and are a laid back group who enjoy catching up and talking about God’s message together. For Fall, we will be continue our focus on “The Chosen” by beginning Season 4 of “The Chosen”. While we are together, we watch the episodes and have discussions about them. If you are a college student, we welcome you to join us any time you are home!

We are located upstairs in the education building between the restrooms and the nursery.
Class members range in age from 30- 75 and we have about 15-20 regular attendees. Our mission is to teach and share the word of Jesus. We usually have chicken pies available for sell all year long and we provide food at the Youth Bazaar every year and as fund-raisers. We sponsor community projects regularly including the backpack program at Griffith Elementary, and we adopt families at Christmas and during the year as well. Our mission is to help in the community as much as we can and therefore to raise the money to do all we can. We do some Bible studies and enjoy variety in our curriculum, currently using “The Gospel Project” from Lifeway Books. We will continue our current study of Acts into the Fall.
DISCOVERY CLASS-
Upper Level Room 241
Our class is located across from the parlor through the double doors of the education building at the Fellowship Hall.
The Discovery Class is made up of both couples and singles of all ages. Whether in your 30s or approaching 90, you are welcome to come, bring your Bible and grow along with us. We currently have approximately 40 members enrolled in the class and Ed Steward is the teacher . For curriculum our class members vote on what book of the Bible we want to study. The format includes reading scripture, lecture and discussion. No quarterly is used. The Discovery Class hosts the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner before Easter and we have an annual Christmas party in December. Throughout the year we help with various activities in the life of the church.
COVENANT CLASS-
Upper Level Fellowship Hall
Second Floor of the education building, last class on the left before the new kitchen and Family Life Center hall.
The Covenant Class is a wonderful group, consisting of members aged 50 to 70-plus but we warmly welcome all ages! We cherish the warmth of fellowship and the support we provide to one another through prayers and caring gestures. For our lesson study guide, we use the David C. Cook literature and rotate teachers each week. Throughout the year, we organize various social events including summer and winter gatherings, and other occasional social activities. One of our favorite traditions is making treat bags for the children of Friedberg every Christmas. Additionally, we actively support several ministries including Love Knots, Sunnyside Ministry, Pastor’s Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Prison Ministry, and the Board of World Missions. Our core mission revolves around serving our Lord Jesus Christ and providing assistance, whether financial or through words of prayer and encouragement, to those in need.
DISCIPLES CLASS-
Lower Level Room 103
The class is located on the bottom floor between the two buildings on the right.
The Disciples Class is made up of people from all different ages and stages in their lives. We have members in their teens and as old as – well, older than we like to count! We also have couples, singles and complete families. This class mostly uses selections from Right Now Media as the foundation for our lessons. We often use lessons from authors such as Tony Evans, Max Lucado, Andy Stanley and Frances Chan. For the Fall we will be doing the following studies “When God Doesn’t Fix It” by Laura Story and “Galatians” by Jada Edwards.
You can find us any Sunday morning enjoying coffee and fellowship. Class time begins at 9:45 a.m. but if you are running late, please feel free to come on in. The class supports Hoof and Paw therapeutic riding center and remains flexible to assist with situations that arise in our church and community. We have also participated in the Backpack program for school children, assisted other Sunday School classes with their missions, and collected items for groups in need in our community. We have been blessed for several years to help Operation North State Box with their Christmas outreach specific to North Carolina veterans and soldiers stationed overseas or in the reserves. We would love to have you visit us!
Lower Level Room 105
We are located on the ground floor of the education building at the bottom of the stairs across from the new elevator.
We love to visit before class begins but start promptly at 9:45 to give our talented group of teachers time for the lesson. Some of us even come early (9:00 a.m.) so we can visit and talk. We have an active class and are always looking for projects. The offering we collect during the Sunday School hour is recorded and donated throughout the year to worthy projects based on recommendations by class members. We begin class with a song , recognize birthdays and share prayer requests and praises with the group. We love to discuss the lessons with our teachers and use the Explore the Bible curriculum as our lesson guide. We have 2 class lunches – held in the Fellowship Hall after church; a post-Christmas lunch in January and a summer get together in mid-August. We have a monthly Ladies Lunch Out with class members and meet at a local restaurant to eat and socialize. This helps us strengthen our ties with others in the class and allows us to get to know one another better. The Class is updated weekly with an email newsletter so if anyone misses a Sunday, they can stay up to date on events and prayer requests. We have a wonderful, caring, class who loves to study and discuss God’s Word together. If you currently do not have a Sunday School Class or are considering joining one – we would love to have you visit! All ages are welcome!
PATHWAYS-
Lower Level Room 117
We are located on the lower level of the education building, on the right side, right before you cross into the new section of the church.
The Pathways Class is a laid back, conversational class where everyone shares and speaks in a seminar format. We typically study books of the Bible or sections of Scripture but also do video studies and Bible studies on Christian books.
During the Fall, the Pathways class will continue our study of the book of Revelation based on a teaching series by Dr Palmer and a Bible Study by Jen Wilkin.
